I have only ever bound NEJM, BMJ and Lancet as they would soon be in shreds
if I did not. The downside, as with any binding, is the difficulty of
obtaining a good photocopy from a large bound volume. Of the others I could
never see the point, a few odd issues go missing, but that is better than
losing a whole bound volume. We discard after 10 years and always have done,
offering them to the networks: it is easier to dispose of unbound journals.

Subject: journal binding
Hello,
We are currently reviewing whether to bind some of our journal titles or
not, as the process can be both time consuming and expensive. What do other
librarians think about binding - is it a worthwhile process? What do people
find are the pros and cons of binding?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
Kind Regards
