Speaker: Ann Wolfe, MLA London
MLA London is running a 12-month pilot study in five boroughs to test the
effectiveness of libraries as locations for skills learning.
The project, Skilled for Health, is a joint government-voluntary sector
initiative to reduce health inequalities. It uses health as an incentive for
adults wishing to improve their well-being, whilst improving literacy,
language or numeracy skills. An extensive set of teaching materials has been
developed.
Ann Wolfe will relate her experiences in running the pilot project, which
ends shortly, and discuss its implications for libraries as learning
centres.
Ann joined MLA London in May 2007 as Skilled for Health Development Worker
after many years in the voluntary sector, both supporting people with mental
health problems and as a Human Rights Campaigner.
This talk will be of particular value to anyone registered for CILIP
Chartership and can contribute towards CPD requirements.
CILIP in London evening meetings are free and open to all with a
professional interest in the topic. Refreshments will be available
afterwards. As space is limited, please let us know if you are coming:
