But if the student intermits part-way through the year, do they expect any outstanding fee they have paid to cover them when they return?

This is just a thought for consideration and has nothing to do with the way we handle this (not my area of responsibility).
If a student has paid a fee and this fee is not being reimbursed isn't there a contractual responsibility to supply the services they have paid for until the end of the contract period? So if a student intermits with the intention of returning next term/year and they have paid a fee for this term/year isn't the University obliged to provide those services or return a part of the fee paid?
I am not a lawyer so this is just a thought off the top of my balding head :-) .
