I enclose two pieces of news in one posting. Both of the original press
releases may be found at: www.burgundyservices.com/PressRelease.htm

The American Society for Engineering Education's (ASEE) Engineering Library
Division has awarded their 2008 Best Reference Work Award to the Synthesis
Digital Library of Engineering and Computer Science from Morgan & Claypool
Publishers. The award will be formally presented at the ASEE annual
conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, June 22-25. The purpose of this
award is to honor the best new reference work in engineering information.

Burgundy is pleased to announce that Morgan & Claypool Publishers have
concluded a NESLi2 license negotiation with JISC Collections for their
Synthesis Digital Library of Engineering and Computer Science. Morgan &
Claypool’s Synthesis is an innovative digital resource that presents
original 75-150 page overviews of key research and development topics by
prominent authors for an audience of researchers and students. Its
library-friendly business model combines unlimited usage with a one-time
purchase, perpetual access license.

Commenting on the agreement Mike Morgan, President of Morgan & Claypool said
“We’re very pleased to have Synthesis available to UK universities under
this JISC agreement. We believe that Synthesis serves an important need for
the engineering and computer science communities that is unmet by
traditional ejournals and ebooks. We’re gratified that in the past two years
Synthesis has been licensed by over 110 universities and government labs
worldwide and we look forward to increasing the number of UK institutions
with this relationship.

Nancy Buckley, Managing Director of Burgundy Services added “I am proud that
yet another of our publisher clients has benefited from the knowledge and
experience of Burgundy’s consortia services. It is also a pleasure to know
that the UK HE community is now able to benefit from such an unprecedented
price model and license terms for this brand new cutting-edge digital
resource. “
UK universities looking to learn more about the NESLi2 offering should
contact Burgundy Information Services who specialize in advising publishers
on their price models, negotiating consortia licenses and marketing new
digital products to the UK & European markets.
