Hi,
I've just been looking at this and it appears on a fresh install with
the sun/jpackage rpms installed and jpackage-utils the jdk that is
supplied with SL4 still gets pulled in to supply "jaxp_parser_impl".
Now running a yum provides jaxp_parser_impl reveals several other rpms
that provide this: classpathx-jaxp, crimson and xerces-j2. After I
installed xerces-j2 then glite-WN no longer tried to pull in jdk.
Assuming all these work does anyone know of any reason to pick one over
another?
Yours,
Chris.
P.s. This set up does seem to install java properly so it's in your path
correctly:
[root@heplnc116 ~]# which java
/usr/bin/java
[root@heplnc116 ~]# ls -l /usr/bin/java
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 22 Apr 17 18:15 /usr/bin/java ->
/etc/alternatives/java
[root@heplnc116 ~]# ls -l /etc/alternatives/java
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 35 Apr 17 18:15 /etc/alternatives/java ->
/usr/lib/jvm/jre-1.5.0-sun/bin/java
[root@heplnc116 ~]# ls -l /usr/lib/jvm/jre-1.5.0-sun/bin/java
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 65632 Jan 21 14:15
/usr/lib/jvm/jre-1.5.0-sun/bin/java
