GIS Data Co-ordinator - Scotland - 12 Months contract - £Neg - Start ASAP
My Client has an immediate opening for a GIS Data Co-ordinator to cover a
12 month contract (maternity leave) based in Scotland.
Working with a wide range of customers, the successful candidate will be
expected to:
develop and manage processes and procedures to maintain corporate
geographic information databases
undertake quality management of geographic information and metadata
liaise with data suppliers, customers, and members of the clients
team
process, maintain and update geographic information from a wide
range of third party suppliers
develop, implement and promote best practice and standards for the
effective management of geographic information
provide consultancy advice and develop and promote opportunities
for the use and sharing of geographic information across the public
sector.
Essential skills and experience
A detailed knowledge of geographic information management, data
quality assurance and a strong understanding of spatial data and
metadata standards.
Strong knowledge and experience of processing and managing digital
map data products, including Ordnance Survey products such as
MasterMap
Establishing, documenting and maintaining data procedures
Strong technical skills and database system operation of Oracle and
SQL Server database management systems.
Working experience of ESRI ArcGIS technologies, including ArcSDE -
Spatial Database Engine and CadCorp technologies, including CadCorp
SIS
Working knowledge of copyright, licencing, derived data and FOI
issues
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Highly motivated, pro-active, able to work well under pressure with
good time management skills.
Desirable skills and experience
Working experience of providing consultancy services
Working experience of Mapping Services / Pan Government Agreements
