We would be very grateful if you would circulate this call for
articles for the next issue of the University of Sussex Journal of
Contemporary History.

-------

The University of Sussex Journal of Contemporary History is an
innovative, refereed on-line journal that seeks to provide a medium
for publication in the postgraduate community and to disseminate
creative, critical and inter-disciplinary historical research.

We are currently inviting submissions for Issue 12 on the theme of
'War, Representations and Society', which will be published later in
2008. We welcome submissions through various forms:

- Articles: between 5,000-7,000 words.
- Book Reviews: we may also be able to obtain a copy of a particular
book for review if there is interest in a particular title.
- Research-In-Progress Reports: an opportunity for postgraduates at
various stages to present a discussion of their research so far.

Themes and topics might include (but are not limited to):
representations of war in film, documentary and still photography;
multimedia and blogging; citizen journalism; representations of the
'war on terror'; histories of documentary and war representation;
representation and life history; the individual and collective
experience of war; representing violence or trauma; ethical issues
relating to the representation of war.

The deadline (extended) is 30th May 2008.

For more information please see our website:
