You have more success if you disable the source course and then use the
copyinto process , though at the cost of having to fiddle about with
batch files - that's always worked for me when the GUI fails.

Thanks for this tip. Unfortunately, even from the course area control
panel, and with a student enrolled, the course settings are not being
taken across with a course copy into an existing course. (They do copy
fine when I use course copy into a new course).
If anyone has any other ideas, please let me know.

Yes. We have found that it is safer nowadays to go to the course area
CP to do the copying rather than the Admin CP. (It used to be that the
opposite was true).
Note too that "EXACT COPY" fails to work if the source course has no
users (eg one you might use as a template)

We have found that when copying a course into an existing course, the
course settings are not carrying across (e.g. Guest Availability
settings).
Does anyone have any experience of this?
