UCML Elections and Vacancies for 2008
Nominations for most of posts on the UCML executive are now closed. The
results will be published shortly.
However, the following positions received no nominations and we are
still seeking candidates for these posts. To seek nomination for one of
these positions please follow the instructions below.
Ordinary members:
East Asian studies
Middle Eastern studies
Literary studies
Initial Teacher Training
Italian studies
What would these posts entail?
* To assist the Chair in the role of lobbying, liaison, networking
and representation on behalf of UCML and its members.
* To articulate the concerns of those constituencies represented by
roles on the Executive Committee.
* To support the organisation in taking forward the priorities
identified by the Executive Committee as a whole, on behalf of the
General Council.
* To promote the benefits of UCML membership in order to recruit new
members.
* To act at all times in the interests of UCML and its members.
* (approximate time commitment c7 days per annum including
attendance at 4 Executive Committee meetings, plus 2 General Council
meetings)
What is the schedule for nominations?
The LLAS Subject Centre will organise the elections on behalf of the
UCML Executive.
Candidates should complete a nomination form and send it to Carol
Churchouse at the LLAS Subject Centre by Friday 2 May 2008.
Ballot papers will be sent out to representatives of all UCML member
institutions/organisations within two weeks of the deadline for
nominations.
Deadline for receipt of completed ballot papers will be Friday 31st May
2008.
It is hoped that newly elected members to the Executive will be able to
attend the Plenary meeting of UCML on 30 June 2008 at London School of
Economics.
What do I do if I want to stand for election or if I want to nominate a
colleague to stand?
If you wish to stand for election, please complete the nomination form
and return it electronically, to Carol Churchouse ([log in to unmask]) by
Friday 2 May 2008.
