Invitation to apply for funded post graduate taught programmes in
GENETIC EPIDEMIOLOGY AND STATISTICAL GENETICS
MSc in Statistical Genetics.
Statistical genetics involves the development of models and methods for
the analysis and interpretation of genetic data. The taught course is
aimed specifically at graduates in disciplines with a high mathematical
content and is focused on methodological issues. We have five MRC
studentships (fees plus stipend of £12,300) to support well qualified
Home students.
MSc in Genetic Epidemiology
Genetic epidemiology is the study of the genetic basis of disease in
human populations. It develops and uses mathematics and statistics to
study the role of genes in disease causation and severity, and to locate
their position in the human genome. We have three CRUK bursaries (fees
and £5,000 allowance) to award to full time Home/EU applicants.
The closing date for applications for Masters programmes is July 2008,
however decisions regarding funded places are made at the end of each
calendar month, so interested applicants should apply early in 2008.
Further details on the taught programmes, including how to apply can be
found at http://www.shef.ac.uk/medicine/prospectivepg/taught/
These post graduate programmes are delivered by the Mathematical
Modelling and Genetic Epidemiology Unit located within the School of
Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, University of Sheffield.
