Process Analytical Technology guidelines are proving to be an
opportunity for process industries to achieve substantial benefits from
increased process understanding. This course is specifically designed to
give delegates experience of using Lean Six Sigma methodology for
process improvement within the context of multivariate data and Process
Analytical Technology. It is being offered jointly by the Centre for
Process Analytics and Control Technology (CPACT) and the Industrial
Statistics Research Unit (ISRU) both of Newcastle University. The 3-day
course was first run in November 2007 and is being offered on 17-19 June

Dealing with missing data in quality of life outcomes

Discussed are the results of a review of a random selection of RCTs=20

extent of use of imputation. A particular RCT will be used to illustrate=20=

Ian White (MRC Biostatistics Unit, Cambridge)
Informatively missing data in randomised controlled trials=20

In RCTs assumption about missing data mechanisms are made; particularly=20=

missing at random. Such assumptions are rarely entirely plausible.=20
Sensitivity analysis and Bayesian analyses are described to use the=20
knowledge of richer data to estimate the missing data mechanism. Also=20
discussed is the sort of analysis with missing outcomes that deserves the=

The General Household Survey (GHS) has recently been redesigned to
accommodate new EU data requirements. The EU has set itself the =
strategic
goal of 'fighting poverty and social exclusion'. A key requirement of =
this
is the collection of EU-wide data on income and living conditions, which =
are
used to assess and monitor progress towards the goal. Member states are

measures of
poverty and social exclusion.=20

Liam Murray will outline how the Office for National Statistics =

the GHS in order to meet the EU-SILC data requirements. An overview of =
