The 2008 annual Postgraduate Research in Progress meeting of the British
Geophysical Association will be held in Durham University, Department of
Earth sciences, on 1-2 September 2008. This email contains registration
information.
A guest lecture will be given by Lars Stixrude on September 1 entitled "From
minerals to mantles: The planetary mosaic".
A second presentation of her Bullerwell Lecture will be given by Tavi Murray
on September 2 entitled "Beneath the Ice: Geophysical Observations at
Rutford Ice Stream, West Antarctica".
Poster sessions will be held during the meeting, and prizes will be
presented for the best talk and the best poster by postgraduate students.
Delegates wishing to give a talk and/or present a poster should email the
title and abstract (maximum one page A4, 12 pt Times Roman) to
[log in to unmask] by no later than 6 July 2008.
Maximum poster size is A0 portrait.
20 good-quality rooms with shared bathroom facilities have been reserved in
Collingwood College, a 10-minute walk from the Earth Sciences Department.
More rooms may be available, including some with en-suite facilities, but
cannot be guaranteed, so early registration is encouraged. Cost is £28 per
night for a standard room and £40 per night en suite.
An Icebreaker reception will be held at 7.00p.m. on August 31 in Collingwood
College. The conference dinner will be held on September 1 in Durham
Castle. There is a supplementary charge for the dinner.
There is a standard registration fee of £48, which includes attendance to
the full conference, the icebreaker reception, all lunches and refreshments
