Professor A. Rod Merrill
Laboratory for Protein Structure and Dynamics
Postdoctoral Fellow in Protein Crystallography
Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology
University of Guelph
The successful applicant should have a Ph.D. in Biochemistry/Biophysics or a
related field (within the last 3 years), with a strong background/experience
in protein crystallographic techniques. Research will primarily focus on the
characterization of novel virulence factors (exotoxins) from pathogenic
bacteria and the inhibitor development against these drug targets. The
project will involve protein chemistry, protein crystallography, mass
spectrometry, enzyme reaction mechanisms and kinetic analyses,
bioinformatics, fluorescence and circular dichroism spectroscopy, and
rationale inhibitor design.
Start date is June 1, 2008 or as soon thereafter as possible.
The initial appointment is for one year and is to be paid from a Human
Frontier Science Program research grant and may be renewable for an
additional two years.
The University of Guelph is committed to an Employment Equity Program that
includes special measures to achieve diversity among its faculty and staff.
We therefore particularly encourage applications from qualified aboriginal
Canadians, persons with disabilities, members of visible minorities and women.
Applications including a curriculum vitae and the names of three referees
should be sent by email (attached files) to:
