The following post will appear in the next issue of ARC.
Archivist, Customer Services and Outreach
37 Hours per week
Temporary for 2 years
£18,907 - £22,845 per annum
Split between the Record Office, County Hall, Worcester and Worcestershire History Centre, Trinity Street, Worcester.
Exciting things are happening at the Worcestershire Record Office, particularly as we develop a number of HLF-funded and other projects and work towards a successful move to an innovative new joint Library/Record Office, whilst at the same time sustaining our high levels of customer use and satisfaction.
We are seeking to recruit a professionally qualified archivist to a two-year post to cover secondments of other project post holders. The Office runs two very busy public searchrooms and you will play an important role in ensuring the full range of services is maintained at both these locations, managing team members, taking responsibility for many of the day-to-day issues arising and being a general source of advice and guidance. You will have a good knowledge of family history and local history resources and techniques, and will split your time between the two branches. You will have the opportunity to engage in a wide range of professional activity including giving talks and tutoring groups, helping at events and promoting the work of the Office. Some Saturday and evening searchroom duties will be involved as well as occasional other weekend and evening work. You will be self-motivated and adaptable, able to deal effectively with searchroom issues, you will have experience of managing staff and have highly developed customer care skills. You will be used to working positively within a team.
