Have you ever wanted to visit Australia and attend an international interdisciplinary archives conference to challenge your archival mind?
The 4th International Conference on the History of Records and Archives is to be held in Perth, Western Australia 3-5 August 2008.
With the theme of Minority Reports: Indigenous and Community Voices in Archives, this conference will stimulate discussion on issues including
What constitutes an archive?
Whose archives, whose memories?
Reading silences and community re-engagement with archives
Speakers and delegates from a range of disciplines including archival science, history, anthropology, archaeology and art history are attending from around the globe including Norway, New Zealand, Japan, Canada, Australia and England. ICHORA4 will be a rare opportunity to discuss issues relating to archives in an international and interdisciplinary context.
The Conference organisers have been fortunate to receive sponsorship for some small subsidies to attend ICHORA4, including some money specifically for Indigenous students and delegates. Should you wish to apply for a subsidy to attend, please write to us with details of your costs, whether you have employer/support from elsewhere, whether you are a student, and if you qualify for the specific money set aside for Indigenous students and delegates. Please write to us by 9th May 2008.
