Research Associate/Senior Research Associate: using research for policy to
promote children’s health.
Applications are invited for a Research Associate/Senior Research Associate
at the UCL Institute of Child Health (ICH). We are looking for an
experienced and enthusiastic researcher to play a key role in developing a
new programme of work on using research for policy to promote children’s
health.
The post holder will be responsible for developing and implementing a
programme of research related to policy, building on their own disciplinary
background, methodological strengths, and career plans. They will also build
links with existing research and new developments within the Centre. The
post will allow an experienced researcher to develop their skills and
experience in a range of research methods and apply these to the development
of public policy. There will be flexibility to develop areas of expertise
and interest. Appropriate training opportunities will be available.
Candidates must have a Doctorate in epidemiology, statistics, policy
analysis or other public health science and be familiar with issues in
maternal and child health research and policy. Public health research
experience, some of it at post-doctoral level, is essential for this post.
Candidates must also have strong analytical skills and be self-motivated,
flexible and creative.
The post is funded until March 2012. If a Research Associate is appointed,
the salary will be on Grade 7 of the UCL salary scales, which ranges from
£27,466 - £33,780 per annum. If a Senior Research Associate is appointed,
salary will be on Grade 8 of the UCL Salary scales which ranges from £34,793
– £41,545 per annum. Salary will be dependant on qualifications and
experience. London Weighting of £2,649 per annum is also paid.
