Dear All,
We're reviewing our archiving procedures for the VLE and I wondered how
other institutions deal with archiving VLE courses at the end of the
year. This would be in addition to regular backups and would enable us
to take a final copy of the course once it has ended. I'd be grateful if
you could let me know:
* Do you take an archive or do you rely on regular backups?
* How often you take an archive?
* How long archives are kept for?
* What storage medium do you use?
We're looking at doing two archives, one in June for UG courses and one
in September for PG courses. This would mean taking a copy of the
courses as they are and storing them on tape or disc. The current
records retention schedule we have indicates that records need to be
kept for at least three years after the end of the course, so for MSc
courses this could be 4 years, but for Medical degrees this could be
about 9 years.
Many thanks in advance.
Best wishes,
Julie
