Hi
i am looking for some advice in relation to the above.
my employer and Atw are paying towards an electric wheelchair to get a
person back to work (he doesnt need it at home but he does to get round
the workplace)and the costs of the drive on/drive off taxi to get him
to/from work ..he is making a contribution of approx 30/40p mile.
as we have started to set up the account for him to pay a portion of the
cost the wages dept have told us that he will now be taxed heavily as we
are paying the costs for him to get to and from work and this is a taxable
perk.....i know that non of us are likely to be advisors to HM revenue and
customs but has anyone heard of this as this could be a barrier to return
to work.
