The Open University's Knowledge Media Institute (http://kmi.open.ac.uk/)
has an opening for one Postdoctoral Research Associate to undertake
research in within the context of an EU/IST-funded integrated project,
PHAROS, which aims to build a next generation audiovisual search platform,
to be designed, developed and applied jointly by a consortium consisting
of leading academic and industrial players with proven track records in
innovation and commercial success. The Multimedia and Information Systems
group of the KMi is a key player in developing core search technologies
within this project including advanced content-based visual search engine
and visual content analysis.
You should have a PhD, strong publication record, and R&D experience in
multimedia information retrieval systems or multimedia databases. Strong
programming skills in JAVA, C/C++ and/or MATLAB are essential. Your role
would be to research and develop cutting-edge algorithms for video
duplicate detection and content-based multimedia retrieval.
