Hosted by the University of Edinburgh, EDINA (http://edina.ac.uk) is a
national data centre, designated by the JISC, and forms part of the ‘virtual
library’ for staff and students in UK higher and further education. A key
strategic objective is to improve access to geospatial data, via the
Internet, using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and related
technologies. Our most well known geospatial services are EDINA Digimap and
UKBORDERS.
We require two Geographic Information Technicians to support our online
services delivering geographic information via the Internet. The work
entails involvement in the data and database aspects of our web-based
services, providing operational cover and undertaking aspects of service
development.
Ideally you will have a degree in a geospatial science or a related
discipline, expertise with using a range of GIS applications, database
skills and practical experience of handling and processing a range of
different geospatial data types and data sets. We will be looking for
individuals who can demonstrate flexibility, initiative, the ability to deal
with time pressures and who have good problem solving skills. The ability to
work as part of a dynamic team is essential.
