Hello Wayne and Keith,
The video is an absolute classic. After working on visual occlusion experiments using driving simulators, I am trying to move on to real vehicles. Ethics and insurance are proving to be a problem, even when using a dedicated open space and dual controls. Oh for the happy-go-lucky days of the 60s when you could drive down the highway with occlusion goggles on!
The footage is priceless, thanks.
For the possible interest of the mailing list (and as a piece of shameless self-promotion), here are some more recent studies that have used occlusion in driving. Occlusion was used to test models of open vs closed loop control during lane correction and lane changing tasks.
