The EGRG Postgraduate Symposium and Annual Symposium will be held May 14-15 2008 at the University of Manchester. These back-to-back events provide an opportunity for economic geographers and reseachers in cognate fields to exchange ideas in a convivial setting. We look forward to welcoming you to the School of Environment and Development at the University of Manchester.
For the Post-Graduate Symposium (May 14th) we invite paper proposals from across the full range of economic geography. AUTHORS should submit a 250 word ABSTRACT to the organisers, Dr Gavin Bridge and Jason Beery, by March 30th (NOW APRIL 14th).
The theme of the Annual Symposium (May 15th) is 'ECONOMY, NATURE, SPACE: ECONOMIC GEOGRAPHIES OF ENVIRONMENT'. Speakers include Prof. Richard Walker (University of California-Berkeley), Dr. Dan Buck (University of Oxford), Prof. David Gibbs (University of Hull), Prof. Diana Liverman (University of Oxford), Dr. Marcus Power (University of Durham) and Prof. Erik Swyngedouw (University of Manchester).
To REGISTER for either or both Symposia, pls send an e-mail to Jason Beery ([log in to unmask]). Pls note that the EGRG has introduced a registration fee of £25 for the Annual Symposium (May 15th), payable by those who draw a salary. This can be paid in advance (by mailing a cheque, payable to EGRG, to the organisers at the address below) or in person in May. Pls let us know if you would like to receive information on nearby accommodation: there are rooms available to suit all tastes, from the plush Palace Hotel to the convenient and cheery Ibis.
