Dear All,
www.manchestergalleries.org/ford-madox-brown
I just wanted to let people know that the first ever interactive web
resource for schools has recently been launched at Manchester Art Gallery.
Based on Ford Madox Brown's painting, Work, the interactive resource (made
by Otley-based creative agency, Prego) is designed for KS2 teachers and
pupils and contains a series of actors' talking heads that literally bring
the characters in the painting to life. There is also a series of
activities and quizzes for pupils as well as an extensive downloadable
teachers' pack, transcripts and glossary. An area for exhibiting pupils'
work on the website is also available.
The online project has run alongside the development of a new pre-bookable
session for schools (KS2). This is based on several works in the collection
that show aspects of Victorian life (urban migration etc.) and uses drama
and role play to understand more about life in Victorian Manchester.
I would be really grateful for any feedback you have on the online resource:
it has been an interesting learning curve as it was the first project of its
kind, and I would be happy to discuss the project further with anyone who is
interested.
Many thanks and best wishes,
Alex
