Who would have guessed that 'waiting' could be so productive?
The debate brought to mind a quote from D&G's Nomadology:
“Toynbee is profoundly right to suggest that the nomad is on the contrary he who does not move.…“Of course the nomad moves, but while seated, and he is only seated while moving.” (Deleuze and Guattari, 1986, p.51) This from a paper i wrote some time ago about mobilities and truck driving. One of the key themes is that, to the driver the experience is about 'waiting' for the landscape to pass and the destination to come into sight. D&G of course use the concept as an analytic into power.

I am writing a paper on how diverse subaltern populations have come to experience their marginalization in spatial and temporal terms, especially their sense of waiting. Does anyone know of studies that have discussed waiting as a social/geographical condition?
Thanks,
Craig
