I just finally figured out that the command to trace in gdb is "where"...it
has too many options and I kept trying stack and trace. It is better with gdb
than with pstack of course because you can get source information.

I meant "press a button" or "go to another shell and type strace", rather than
pre-mediated "put a breakpoint here". Every now and then my code got stuck in
an infinite loop and I wanted to know what it was doing :-)
