Dear all,
An announcement of interest to all UK postgraduates in Slavonic and East
European Studies.
As you know, I have been the Postgraduate Representative on the BASEES
committee since April 2007. My term will be up at the next BASEES
conference (March 29-31st) and I would like to encourage all interested
PhD students to consider applying for the post.
As PG Representative, you will have the opportunity to attend BASEES
committee meetings and potentially take part in decision-making and the
organisation of future Slavonic-interest events. You'll meet the movers
and shakers behind Slavonic and East European Studies in Britain! You will
also have a budget for a conference/seminar series/workshop involving
other UK postgraduates. For example, I used my budget to co-organise the
very successful December 2007 BASEES Postgraduate Conference with
Valentina Feklyunina at the University of Glasgow. You will also be able
to post on the BASEES postgraduate mailing list.
Some ideas for next year: --- planning a second Postgraduate Conference
using Web2 to encourage networking contacts between postgraduates ---
linking Slavonic Studies departments at different universities by workshop
days and 'twinning' programmes --- what do YOU suggest?
Please contact me ([log in to unmask]) and/or the BASEES Postgraduate Co-
ordinator Jonathan Oldfield ([log in to unmask])before March 25th
if you are interested.
Best wishes to all
Muireann
