Hi Neville and Assumers,

it is good to see the list still exists.
Excel 2007 is really a mixed blessing. The fact that Excel now has
 > 10^6 rows and > 1.6*10^4 columns is really a major change for
statistical work, and it is extremely useful for quick and dirty data
maintenance for larger data sets.

COUNTIFS might be useful but it always was possible (albeit possibly
somewhat more esoteric) to do any complicated COUNT queries using array
functions.

Graphics really was downgraded in my opinion. What Neville describes is
just one of the niceties the MSofties removed. Rotating 3D-charts
mousewise is another one of the lost treasures.

In case some readers of the list don't know: there is a blog of the
Excel developer team at
http://blogs.msdn.com/excel/

I also have a question:
SPSS now has an Excel addin (works with XL2007 only).
SPSS Advantage™ for Excel® 2007
Does anybody on the list have any experiences with it?

Some more hints:
Changes from 2003 to 2007 are documented at
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc179167.aspx

http://blogs.msdn.com/excel/archive/2006/08/24/718786.aspx
has the list of all the goodies which went into the bitbucket

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=89718abd-2758-47b3-9f90-93788112b985&DisplayLang=en
is an application showing where you find things you know how to do in
Excel 20043 and cannot find in Excel 2007.

One more thing:
Excel 2008 on Macs does not have VBA anymore. This is really very
aggressive: Addin-developers have lost the means of developing software
for 2 platforms from a commons source base.
