DIALOGUE: POST GRADUATE RESEARCH CONFERENCE
CALL FOR PAPERS
Conference date and venue: Friday 23rd May 2008, Nottingham Trent University
"In the experience of dialogue, there is constituted between the other person and myself a common ground..."
- Maurice Meleau-Ponty, Phenomenology of Perception
Margins keep dissolving and disciplines can no longer be contained in watertight categories. The process of research is, therefore, always an ongoing process of dialogue which makes it possible for us to share ideas with the rest of the world. As a launch platform for new dialogues between areas of contemporary research, the School of Arts, Humanities and Education at NTU will be hosting a one-day conference for postgraduate researchers.
Explaining your research to an audience can be challenging, so to initiate the process of dialogue and ease the pressure of formal presentation, each speaker will have a non-expert discussant who will respond to their paper. The choice of subject for your paper is up to you.
The conference is open to ALL doctoral students in Arts and Humanities as we hope to include a wide range of topics in order to maximise the potential for dialogue. If you are interested please submit a short abstract to the email address below by Monday 31st March. You may bring a discussant of your choice, or we can arrange a suitable discussant for you, if required. All presentations will be limited to 20 minutes.
