It's been many a year but my last visit to Toledo included a visit to the
Fabrica de Espadas Zamorano where they were forging swords from spring steel
in a coal forge. I don't know if they have continued or have yielded to
pressure to make only tourist pieces; but if you can look up older members
of the family a discussion on how the craft used to be done might prove
interesting.

> Just for your interest, there are two or three houses of traditional swordsmiths in Oaxaca, Mexico. The one whose name I remember is Casa Aguilar. They rarely make traditional swords today, mostly knives, fancy dance machetes and collector's pieces for tourists but if you are down that way, you might want to check it out.

> Hello everyone,
> Does anyone have contacts with museum people in Spain? A student at Yale would like to study Spanish swords, sword-making and weaponry this summer. Any leads will be greatly appreciated.
