If you're really just checking and therefore don't need to actually save
the project, and you do have read access to the existing project then you
don't really need to copy the project at all. The caveats are of course
that the paths are the same on the different computers you're using are
the same (e.g. by nfs mounting the home & data directories in the same
places on different machines - autofs on LINUX is good for this), or that
you're prepared to put up with slow window refresh rates if you display on
your machine from a remote one (most robust with Tk graphics unless the
two machines have the same (brand at least of) OpenGL driver).
