Mike's right. I still send journals (only within the last five to ten
years) to countries outside the UK, but no longer send text books because
they are not wanted.
Old medical books are saleable only if they are a) REALLY old or b) unusual
in some way, e.g. written during one of the wars. Even then this isn't
always the case. There is a risk management issue in selling them to your
library users, and an even bigger one in selling them to the public, and so
secondhand shops should not be used.
Most old medical books should be put in the bin.
