Two main routes;
- After an image is applied to a machine, the scripts that applied the
image make modifications to the sysprep.inf to specify the
appropriate container for the workstation.
Or,
- If joining later on (in some cases because the computername is not
finalised until well into post-imaging), by using the netdom command
(from the resource kit), which allows the OU to be specified.
In each case, the destination OU is calculated by scripts, from
information already known to them or that can be determined from the IP.
In our case, pre-creation of accounts is a non-starter for staff
machines, because we don't know in advance what machines are being
installed, what their names will be, what faculty they should go in
(which affects the OU), or what installation type they are (which also
affects the OU).
