This error may happen if WinZip was used to unpack the *.tar.gz files without
disabling the TAR file smart CR/LF conversion is (under the Miscellaneous
Configuration Options). If WinZip wasn't used, then there may be some
similar setting for that software too.
Try the installation again, but first disable the TAR file smart CR/LF
conversion.
