1 Postdoctoral position
Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience Berlin
One full-time postdoctoral position is available for a period of 3 years in
the group of Prof. John-Dylan Haynes at the Bernstein Center for
Computational Neuroscience Berlin (http://www.bccn-berlin.de/People/haynes).
Research in the group focuses on functional brain imaging of conscious and
unconscious processing in several cognitive domains. A variety of methods
are used including behavioural and psychophysical measurements and
functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI).
The specific project will build on previous work using multivariate pattern
recognition applied to human visual perception to identify the cortical
mechanisms of visual masking.
Experience in cognitive neuroscience and neuroimaging and familiarity with
neuroimaging analysis platforms (such as SPM or BrainVoyager) are desirable,
as well as mathematical and scripting skills (especially MATLAB). Experience
in computational modelling would be useful but is not required. The position
requires a PhD in a relevant field, such as neuroscience, cognitive science,
cognitive psychology or computer science/mathematics. The successful
candidate will play a key role in designing, conducting and analysing
experiments and will work as part of a multi-disciplinary research team. The
position offers excellent training in advanced aspects of neuroimaging (such
as cortical flattening, retinotopic mapping, connectivity analysis,
multivariate analyses). The group has close links with the nearby 7T MRI lab
at the Max Planck Institute for Cognitive and Neural Sciences, Leipzig
(Prof. Robert Turner) and the 7T MRI at the Otto-von-Guericke University
Magdeburg (Prof. Oliver Speck, Prof. Hans-Jochen Heinze).
