Jesse,
A major mushroom scout (featured in a City Paper cover story) hinted to me
that there are several locations in the Washington/Baltimote metropolitan
area where John the Conqueror Root can be found growing.
Otherwise, try a google search on the visual artist Renee Stout. I'm sure
she references "John the Conqueror" in her sculpture and installations.
