There is a book on the subject: Sign Systems for Libraries, by Dorothy
Pollet and Peter C Haskell Published R R Bowker Company.
Lots of photos, illustrations - 271 pages - rather dated (1979) "Finding
one's way in the library", "What to do about disabled patrons" and
ancient hairdos, use LetraSet (remember it?) and no computers - you
could even design a late 1970's retro library. But it does have some
good tips and ideas and can also help to focus on what needs to be
thought about. I'm sure you'll find one lying around unread in someone's
library (can borrow my one - withdrawn stock - if you like!)

Subject: Library signage
hi
We are reviewing signage within our learning centres at Sheffield Hallam
University. Has anyone carried out a similar exercise recently, and
would
you be prepared to share your experience / ideas?
I'm looking for information and ideas about signs / signage in
libraries:
I've found some interesting information on the web but would like more
concrete examples of good practice.
thanks for your help
