Hi Santanu,
I started draining one of our disk servers yesterday, and its currently
draining as I type.
I'm currently draining one of the filesystems from a machine called se01
using the following command...
# dpm-drain --server se01.dur.scotgrid.ac.uk --fs /gridstore0
Example output...

From what I can tell it does exactly that. It drains one pool or
filesystem by replicating the file onto one of your other pools, then
deletes it.
Interestingly I started it yesterday, and it works but seems to
intermittently stop (the command exits successfully as if the drain is
complete - but it isn't). Running the command again seems to resume the
drain - I've had to do this twice now.
