Dear forced migration list members;
My name is (Jade) Cemre Erciyes. I am a sociologist and a social statistician,
grown up and educated in Turkey, where my family were forced to migrate during
the exile in the second half of the 19th Century from the Caucasus by the
Tsarist Russia.
I am currently working on the return migration to the Caucasus. Three
generations have passed but the ideal to return home has been protected among
the Adyghe and Abkhaz. I am learning Russian and Abkhazian at the moment while
looking for a Phd program in anthropology to study this subject.
I am very grateful to everyone who took part in the formation of this website
and digital library since it is very hard to reach to sources of information,
especially if you are not a member of any institution. The site has helped me a
lot to shape my mind about my research. And I hope being a member of this mail
list will give me the opportunity to discuss my findings with experts from all
over the world.
Best regards,
Jade Cemre Erciyes
