Is there full funding available, I cannot commit to any more conferences without funding being
available, indeed that is part of the whole problem.
After all I am funding myself and the difficulty of securing funding for people in my position is
very much part of the subject I would like to present on, that is to say what is keeping disabled
people out of research which would challenge the dominance, nay the hegemony of the medical model in
mainstream research outside of the "ghetto" of disability studies. (even so I guess securing the
funding is not any easier)
It's the hard headed "scientists" who hold the purses, and these are by and large not from either
disadvantaged or disabled backgrounds, neither are some universities particularly minded to level
the playing field as that challenges the status quo to a degree they are not prepared to accept.
