This report examines the processing of domestic violence (DV) and
non-domestic violence (non-DV) cases filed in May 2002 in 15 large urban
counties. The study compares the domestic and non-domestic offenses of
sexual and aggravated assault on 11 prosecution, conviction, and
sentencing outcome measures.

content. Have sites such as Facebook and YouTube responded in a timely
and effective manner to safeguard our data, whilst promoting our rights
to free speech? Technology to combat crime, and technology used to
assist in crime will also be a central theme of the conference, along
with other technology issues currently facing the legal profession and
legal education. The keynote Speakers are Professor David Wall of the
Centre for Criminal Justice Studies at the University of Leeds who will
be speaking on ‘Cybercrime’ and David Flint of MacRoberts in Glasgow
will speak on ‘Technology, Media and practitioners’.
Abstracts of approx 500 words are still welcome in pdf or word format to

Full papers accepted and presented at the conference will be put forward
for peer-review or special editions of journals in the areas of law,
technology and education.
There will be a prize-winning competition for the best Postgraduate

# 3: INTERNATIONAL CRIMIMINAL COURT SYMPOSIUM in TUEBINGEN [AIDP,
YOUNG PENALISTS] (April 2008)
The upcoming *ICC Review Conference and the future of the ICC* will be
the topic of a Symposium in International Criminal Law for Young
Penalists, co-organized by he AIDP Young Penalists Committee and the
University of Tuebingen, Faculty of Law. It will be held in Tuebingen,
Germany (near Stuttgart) April 1st to 5th, 2008.
The Symposium will consist of three panels of international criminal law
experts, and of three young penalists working groups, which will address
issues of substantive law, procedural law and of the policy of the ICC.
Each day will be divided into two sessions, for a total of approx. 16
academic hours. The objective of the Symposium is to arrive at
conclusions/recommendations, to be submitted to the ICC Review Conference.
Registration ends on February 17th, 2008.

# 8: TRANSNATIONAL TERRORIST and CRIMINAL ORGANISATIONS in the BALKANS
(October 2008)
Belgrade, 2-4 October 2008: Conference on transnational terrorist and
criminal organisations in the Balkans. The third and final conference of
the HUMSEC (human security) project focuses on the impact of
transnational terrorist and criminal organisations on the peace-building
process of the region. Conference themes are: Human Security –
conceptual and theoretical issues; conflict and post-conflict
situations; terrorism; and crime (organised/other). Papers should
address reconciliation and peace-building in the region, the position of
organised crime and terrorist groups in that process, and proposals for
