The L&M of Freemasonry recently advertised this challenging position. The
deadline for applications is being extended in order to raise awareness of
this new, exciting project and to attract as many applications as possible.
The post will involve managing a team of volunteer co-ordinators who will
conduct a survey of Lodge and Chapter records in England and Wales. The
results will be made available for future use by researchers via the L&M
website. The volunteer co-ordinators will be responsible for collecting
information about the preservation and storage of records held by
Lodges/Chapters using National Preservation Office models. This innovative
project represents unique use of the NPO preservation assessment
methodology among archives held by a private organisation. The Project aims
to encourage good record keeping practice among Lodges and Chapters and,
where possible, the deposit of older records with local record offices.
All those who have already submitted applications need not reapply - each
applicant has been informed of the extended deadline, which does not affect
the interview process or projected Project start date.
Please pass details to colleagues without access to the ARC circular or to
other suitably qualified individuals, perhaps experienced archive users,
who can demonstrate research skills using original archives resources, the
compilation of statistical data, report writing skills and experience of
supervising volunteers.
thank you,
Susan Snell
