Dear All,
I have noticed we are getting a growing number of enquiries from people writing their memoirs - usually only for their immediate family rather than full publication. For us these tend to relate to specific concerts that were of personal significance and the enquirer wants to get the facts right. We generally find memories of soloists, programme content and dates are reasonably accurate - give or take a few years, and confirmation plus a photocopy of the programme usually results in much gratitude! I usually get to hear the story behind the memory - which has yielded at least one willing participant in oral history as well. I just wondered whether any others had noticed this as a growing trend? I'm guessing ease of access to desktop publishing has something to do with it but should such authors be encouraged to circulate their memoirs more widely - we certainly have copies of those that are produced by former players. Just wondered what others thought.
Regards to all,
Eleanor
