Call for Papers
Deadline: 6th April 2008
Ways of Living: Inequalities, Risks and Choices
1st ENQUIRE – Postgraduate Conference, 17 and 18 June 2008
School of Sociology & Social Policy, University of Nottingham
In today’s society there are many factors related to inequalities, risks
and choices that can affect the way people live their lives. Our ways of
living are inscribed in a nexus between, for instance, gender, class and
ethnicity; other aspects, such as urbanisation, health and poverty are
playing an important role in this context as well. The aim of this
conference is to bring together theoretical and empirical perspectives
along with research from the social sciences exploring different
dimensions that shape our ways of living.
Postgraduate students working in the social sciences will be able to
present and discuss their work and interests and to subsequently receive
feedback in a supportive and comfortable environment. We also see this
conference as a great opportunity to build an encouraging and productive
postgraduate network.
We have an exciting and interesting programme planned. We invite papers
that examine issues addressing aspects of ways of living related but not
restricted to the following themes:
Work
Healthy lifestyles
Tourism
Spaces and Places
Consumerism
Spirituality
Sociology of Sport
Social Capital
Leisure
Sexual Behaviours
Migration
Ageing
Environment
