The Royal Opera House is the major lyric arts theatre in the United
Kingdom enjoying an international reputation for excellence. The Royal
Opera House Collections contain materials covering the history of the
three theatres that have stood on the site since 1732. Royal Opera House
Collections launched an online catalogue and performance database in
December 2007: www.rohcollections.org.uk/ . We are now looking for a
performance cataloguer as part of the team that will play a key role in
expanding this online resource. The post is offered as a fixed term
contract for fifty-one weeks.
Reporting to the Cataloguing Coordinator, the role includes:
• Using Adlib software to catalogue performances in all the performing
venues of the Royal Opera House, from 1950 to the present
• Using nightly programmes and cast-sheets to source the information for
the database
• Undertaking research as directed to source information not available in
ROH Collections’ programme collection
• Proofreading records to prepare them for the online database
The ideal candidate will be a team player with, able to demonstrate these
key aptitudes and experience:
• Experienced database user with excellent IT and keyboard skills
• Ability to work accurately and productively on repetitive tasks
• Strong time management and the capacity to manage a busy workload
• Ability to deal with people at all levels in a confident and
professional manner
