About 8 miles from the epicentre here - woke me and the house was certainly shaking but the most prominent thing was actually the noise - not heard anything like it before and lasted about twice as long as the noticeable movement. Recall a quake a few years ago, centred in the West Midlands I think, which was much milder than being near the centre of this one. I also tried unsuccesfully to get on the BGS site around 1 and went back to bed after seeing a 'breaking news' on the BBC website which said there had been a tremor (though it said West Midlands initially). Only found out we were so close to the centre when I got on the BGS site later this morning.

The earth moved for me, about 00:55am, lasted quite a few seconds,
made some things creak.
Presume a smallish quake, but the strongest I've ever felt if that's
what it was.
