The last two sets of updates (1048 and 1111) include MEX files compiled
with an older version of Matlab so they will over-write any MEX files
that you may have compiled yourself earlier in order to get them working
with R2007b.

To compile and install the MEX files, you should type the following in a
linux console:
cd /usr/local/bin/spm5/src
make && make install
Please report any error message you may obtain at this stage. If the
compilation seems to be fine but SPM is still not running properly,
please check that Matlab is indeed calling the newly compiled MEX files:
>> which spm_atranspa.mexglx
should return /usr/local/bin/spm5/spm_atranspa.mexglx
All the best,
Guillaume.
