Millennialism in The Modern World
Liverpool Hope University, Liverpool, 7-9 July 2008
The Centre for Millennialism Studies, Liverpool Hope University, is
organising its second international conference in Liverpool, July 7-9
2008. The general theme of the conference is ‘Millennialism in the
Modern World’. The organisers would welcome papers on any aspect of
contemporary millennialism, particularly papers addressing the influence
of apocalyptic texts and ideas within popular culture.
The cost for the conference will be £185. This includes accommodation,
all meals and the conference fee. A limited number of bursaries for
postgraduate students are also available.
If you are interested in participating, please send a 200-word abstract
to John Walliss ([log in to unmask]) in an email with the title
‘Millennial conference’ by 30 April 2008. For more information on the
Centre, see http://www.millennialism.org.uk/
About Liverpool
Liverpool is globally known as the 'home of the Beatles' and is famous
for its two premier football clubs Liverpool and Everton. But that's not
all, Liverpool is an historic, contemporary, beautiful, vibrant,
multi-cultural, musical, sporty, fun city and the warmth of the welcome
is probably among the best in the world.
The world-famous Albert Dock incorporates Tate Liverpool, Merseyside
Maritime Museum and The Beatles Story and from the nearby Pier Head
visitors can also take a ferry 'cross the Mersey. These are just a
handful of local tourist attractions and alongside our eight national
museums and galleries, live music venues and rich architecture you'll
never be stuck for something to do.
