Hi Brenda
If you are treating them as EPP workers why are you not doing HIV testing? All our EPP workers are
subject to the new DoH guidelines which now include testing for HIV, dental nurses fall within this
remit.
Cheers

Hi Tracy
We look after Dental Nurses and those entering training as dental nurses -
we treat them as EPP therefore for those newly entering we require them to
be tested for HepC and HepB surface Antigen.
For those already in post we are not testing retrospectively but would
insisit on having documented evidence of HepB status.
All of the above being Identity Validated.
We don't have a specific written policy but are folloing guidance in line
with DoH guidance for healthcare workers.

Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] Dental Nurses
Dear All,
Does anyone have a policy for Dental Nurses health clearance in accordance
with the General Dental Council and with the DoH guidance for healthcare
workers?
Do you consider Dental nurses as Exposure Prone Procedures workers, or only
dentists, or both?
Thank you
Tracy Bluestone
