I work in the offshore industry and we have to contend with this issue on a
regular basis - converting coordinates from various coordinate systems to
lat & long.
If it is any consolation I have seen professional survey companies make I
right mess of this
as well!
I have used several professional programs to do this and I have also
struggled to get satisfactory and consistant results from them without
support from professional surveyors
