Dear Alisdair,
As time permits(!), I am doing some research on the Silver Valley and
Brothers Mining Co. - 1852'ish. This Co. was working gossan that was highly
argentiferous, but I am not precisely certain exactly what mine they were working. I
have a shaft name and will email again - someone might just be able to put
the shaft/mine together?! You might like to know that there are numerous
entries in 1853 MJ for the above Co., and they clearly and frequently make ref. to
gossan and the quans. of sacks produced - and once or twice make ref. to the
estimated silver content. It seems that the Co. might have finished opers.
possibly in 1854, and it's this that I would like to determine.
Hope this might be of use to you.
Regards, Bernard
